Immunotherapy approaches targeting regulatory T-cells.

چکیده
The immune system prevents establishment and progression of cancer through innate and adaptive surveillance. However, some cancerous cells successfully evade the immune system. Regulatory T-cells (Tregs) facilitate such evasion. Tregs may be the factor responsible for the limited success of human tumor immunotherapy to date. To improve immunotherapy, it is thought that the number of Tregs and their functions should be inhibited in patients with advanced cancer. In this review, we focus on recent immunotherapy efforts targeting Tregs.

New insights into the mechanisms of allergen-specific immunotherapy.
PURPOSE OF REVIEW Specific immunotherapy represents the only curative treatment of a specific allergy, and is therefore of great interest in terms of immunological mechanisms and therapeutic developments. RECENT FINDINGS Allergen-specific regulatory T cells are induced after the initiation of specific immunotherapy, and are assumed to suppress effector T cells directly mediating allergic infl...
متن کاملTargeting regulatory T cells in tumors.
Regulatory T (Treg ) cells play a crucial role in maintaining peripheral tolerance and preventing autoimmunity. However, they also represent a major barrier to effective antitumor immunity and immunotherapy. Consequently, there has been considerable interest in developing approaches that can selectively or preferentially target Treg cells in tumors, while not impacting their capacity to maintai...
متن کاملTumors induce immune tolerance through activation of β-catenin/TCF4 signaling in dendritic cells: A novel therapeutic target for cancer immunotherapy
Tumors promote immune suppression and dendritic cells (DCs) play a key role in this. However, signaling networks that program DCs to induce immune suppression are unknown. In our recent study, we showed that tumors activate β-catenin/TCF4 in DCs programming them to a regulatory state, which promotes T regulatory responses while suppresses effector T cell responses. Thus, targeting DCs-β-catenin...
متن کاملAltered Th17/Treg Ratio in Recurrent Miscarriage after Treatment with Paternal Lymphocytes and Vitamin D3: a Double- Blind Placebo-Controlled Study
Background: Recurrent miscarriage (RM) affects 2-5% of pregnant women. Paternal lymphocyte immunotherapy is a common treatment for RM patients but the outcome has not been consistent. Therefore, combined therapy with other immunosuppressive drugs such as 1 a, 25-dihydroxy-vitamin-D3 (vitamin D3) may improve the outcome. Objectives: To investigate the effect of vitamin D3 on the balance of two...
متن کاملOld-School Chemotherapy in Immunotherapeutic Combination in Cancer, A Low-cost Drug Repurposed.
Cancer immunotherapy has proven to be a potent treatment modality. Although often successful in generating antitumor immune responses, cancer immunotherapy is frequently hindered by tumor immune-escape mechanisms. Among immunosuppressive strategies within the tumor microenvironment, suppressive immune regulatory cells play a key role in promoting tumor progression through inhibiting the effecto...
